Fighting two waves of COVID-19 across India and Sri Lanka
Between 2020 and 2021, Rotary clubs across Australia, India and Sri Lanka partnered on 11 Global Grants — ventilators, ICU monitors, oxygen therapy, rapid PCR testing and mobile trauma care — for hospitals that had nowhere else to turn.
Each project started the same way: a hospital, laboratory or district health office naming the equipment its own staff said they needed most — then a Rotary club, working with an international sponsor club, turning that request into a funded, delivered Global Grant. Every project below is complete, and every item purchased was handed over outright to the hospital or institution that uses it.
The first wave — 2020
As COVID-19 first reached Tamil Nadu and Sri Lanka, these seven grants equipped government hospitals and national testing labs with the ventilators, ICU monitors and diagnostic capacity they didn't yet have.

The second wave — 2021
When India and Sri Lanka's second wave hit harder and faster, these four grants answered a different set of shortages — oxygen above all, plus mobile care for the patients left behind once the surge passed.
